Multicriteria optimization as enabler for Sustainable Ceramic Matrix Composites

چکیده

Over the past 40 years, development of Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) has focused mainly on improvement material performance and optimization cost-efficient production routes. Recently, more fields application have opened up for CMCs, in which environmental impacts are relevant. These barely been investigated so far but receive growing interest due to increasing awareness consequences. Our innovative approach frames properties relation (e.g., global warming potential CO2 emission) by varying process parameters balance optimum against considerations. First, wet filament winding Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) state changing both curing tempering temperatures. During CFRP plates, mass energy flows were tracked each step. Three point-bending interlaminar shear tests performed resulting samples identify basic mechanical properties. The determined a cradle-to-gate Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), using software SimaPro. tradeoffs between show nonlinear behavior, thus revealing points above improved associated with significantly higher emissions.

Nondestructive Damage Evaluation in Ceramic Matrix Composites for Aerospace Applications

Infrared thermography (IRT) and acoustic emission (AE) are the two major nondestructive methodologies for evaluating damage in ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) for aerospace applications. The two techniques are applied herein to assess and monitor damage formation and evolution in a SiC-fiber reinforced CMC loaded under cyclic and fatigue loading. The paper explains how IRT and AE can be used f...

Multifunctional PMMA-Ceramic composites as structural dielectrics

We describe the influence of calcium copper titanate (CCTO), and montmorillonite (MMT) on the thermo-mechanical and dielectric properties of poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA-based composites prepared by an in-situ, thermally activated, radical polymerization for multifunctional structural capacitor applications. MMT was used for its ability to disperse and suspend the CCTO particles through the g...

Nanoparticles Transport in Ceramic Matriсes: A Novel Approach for Ceramic Matrix Composites Fabrication

The results of practical implementation of a new method for porous piezoceramics, and ceramic matrix piezocomposites fabrication were presented. The method was based on nanoparticles transport in ceramic matrices using a polymer nanogranules coated or filled with a various chemicals, with successive porous ceramics fabrication processes. Different types of polymer microgranules filled and coate...

Matrix cracking of fiber-reinforced ceramic composites in shear

The mechanics of cracking in fiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) under general loadings remains incomplete. The present paper addresses one outstanding aspect of this problem: the development of matrix cracks in unidirectional plies under shear loading. To this end, we develop a model based on potential energy differences upstream and downstream of a fully bridged steady-state mat...
